Oh the weather outside is frightful...but the learning inside is so delightful. The single most valuable learning tool is networking with your industry peers, but those opportunities can be limited during the winter months. What better time to take advantage of alternative options for training and professional development from NJBankers?

The leader in bank training for more than 100 years, the American Institute of Banking (AIB) offers a portfolio of training subjects and delivery options for bank employees and non-banking professionals. The courses financial services professionals rely on to open doors to a better career are now offered online through NJBankers.

Online Courses
More than 10,000 students throughout the United States are already enrolled in AIB Online Courses, part of the largest industry-sponsored adult education program in the world. All courses are designed to help banking professionals build their skills and knowledge, optimize job performance and meet certification requirements. AIB’s comprehensive training solutions can empower you to meet the demands of an ever-changing banking environment. The only tool needed to take advantage of this great learning opportunity is a computer with Internet access.

Instructor-led online seminars closely mimic the traditional classroom environment. Programs are delivered at a specific date and time using state-of-the-art audio and video technology to make this a hands-on learning experience. Participants learn by interacting with speakers and students via Internet messaging, “open-mic” sessions and live opinion forums.

These courses range from five to 16 weeks in length. Textbooks are sent to students prior to the beginning of class. Students may log on to the Internet at any time during the day or night to complete assignments. Instructors take an active role in contacting students and assigning homework. Assignments and examinations are completed on the Internet.

AIB offers instructor-led online courses in the areas of Banking Law and Compliance; Bank Financial Management; General Banking, Law and Banking; Marketing and Sales; Retail Banking and Lending; Small Business Banking; and Wealth Management and Trust.

AIB diplomas and certificates enhance on-the-job performance and also establish a foundation for long-term career growth. AIB Diplomas are offered in Bank Operations; General Banking; Retail Branch Management; Lending with a specialization in Consumer, Commercial or Mortgage Lending; Banking and Finance; Bank Marketing; Personal Banking; Personal Trust; and Retirement Services. AIB Certificates are available for Call Center Representative, Customer Service Representative, Sales Manager, Supervisor Certificate, Team Leader and Teller.

The American Council on Education’s (ACE) College Credit Recommendation Service reviewed 12 AIB online courses and has recommended college credit in each instance. ACE is the major coordinating body for all the nation’s higher education institutions. (Each college or university decides whether to grant credit for ACE college credit recommendations. However, more than 1,200 colleges across the country have granted credit for such courses.)

ABA eLearning Courses

ABA Knowledge Center’s eLearning courses are self-paced, skills-based online courses designed to maximize productivity, reinforce compliance procedures and improve the bottom line. Students can begin at any time, on any day, since all coursework and quizzes are completed over the Internet and no textbook is needed. A student can finish a course in one sitting or several.

More than 70 comprehensive, cost-effective courses are offered under the following course tracks:

• Basic Banking Knowledge
• Fundamental Business Skills
• Management and Leadership

Telephone Seminars
One of the most convenient, cost-effective ways to maximize your training dollar, telephone seminars allow you to train an unlimited number of listeners by speaker-phone in the comfort of your own bank. The program consists of a one-and-a-half hour presentation and 30 minutes of live Q&A. Written materials are provided for each program. You may also purchase an audiotape or CD recording of the seminar for your ongoing training efforts.

So let it snow, let it snow, let it snow. With NJBankers’ alternative learning opportunities, you’ll be warm and comfortable in the know, in the know, in the know.
